Things to do in Kirkwall when you're ill

Orkney is really interesting - beautiful, the sun never really sets at this time of year[1], lot's of space, lot's of things to see. Right now the St Magnus Festival is going on and I caught a bit of it - vikings trying to invite you to their encampment out on the edge of town (past the supermarkets), openbacked lorries filled with people in warpaint banging drums and blowing whistles driving about, various music events going on etc.

As you might imagine, I was sick on Sunday, and spent Monday recovering. So much for going North. Now back in Inverness.

[1] Although it was a pretty dim twilight when I staggered down the corridor to the toilet at 2 am.
