I Watch Films: The Legend Of Hell House

The Legend of Hell House

A dying man sends a physicist (and his wife) and two mediums to “The Mount Everest of Haunted Houses” to find out if there is an afterlife. One of the mediums is the only survivor of an investigation twenty years before The house was owned by a perverted millionaire who would have orgies and disappeared after a massacre.

The film is high on atmosphere (although built in the 20s the house was deliberately made to look older and it’s not quite over the top). There’s a good cast with the four investigators all having both personal and professional disputes that prevent them working together. The effects range from good and scary to camp 70s nonsense.

The final reveal is creepy enough to have an impact even with all the weirdness that went on before.

Watch This: For a classic haunted house film
Don’t Watch This: If you don’t like haunted houses
