I Watch Films: Ravenous

Ravenous

John Boyd is an officer in the US Army; in the Mexican War he freezes and plays dead. Then, finding his mouth filled with blood in a pile of bodies, and behind enemy lines, he captures the commander and is made a hero.

The general realises he isn’t a hero and sends him to a remote fort up in the Rocky Mountains. A stranger, Coulqhoun, comes in out of the winter storm, with a tale of a party who have been stranded and turned to cannibalism. They head out to rescue them and are betrayed.

Back at the fort Boyd tells his story but is not believed. Things get bloody, cannibalistic and out of hand. A strange supernatural Western with some spooky bits and more than one awkward scene from what was apparently a troubled production.

Watch This: Cool period horror, with an overwhelming sense of dread and rising tension
Don’t Watch This: If people being eaten is not a good movie watching time
