The Devil Commands

Dr Blair (Boris Karloff) is conducting research on brainwaves when his wife is killed in a car crash. However her unique brain signature keeps coming back. His assistant Karl suggests a medium, Mrs Walters, who is a fraud but also seems to amplify the brainwaves. An accident damages Karl’s brain and Blair and Walters take him to a remote New England home to continue experiments.

His housekeeper finds out about the bodies they are using and is killed, which starts an investigation by the local sheriff. Meanwhile Blair’s daughter and fiancé (another scientist) are worried about him.

Watch This: A few creepy turns, and a decent bit of fake medium-ing
Don’t Watch This: It’s yet another scientist messing with the dead, going mad after the loss of a loved one and having a mentally disabled servant. The devil makes no appearance.
