365 Poems in 365 Days: Not The Poem It Was

This may or may not be the poem you expect
It’s not the one where my feelings are told
The words on the page conceal the subject
I won’t say if it’s too boring or bold

It’s not the one where my feelings are told
The text is the surface that clearly reveals
I won’t say if it’s too boring or bold
Nothing for me; that’s part of the deal

The text is the surface that clearly reveals
A piece that says nothing about what’s to come
Nothing for me, that’s part of the deal
Add up the cost, total the sum

A piece that says nothing about what’s to come
The words on the page conceal the subject
Add up the cost, total the sum
This may or may not be the poem you expect

Number 267 was originally a pantun about making tea. No, seriously. Then I surgically removed all the tea references and replace them with mystery and it was much better. Number 268 is constructed from the lines about making tea.
