Two pirates arrive in Pernambuco with no money. The governor has many expensive hobbies, one of which is collecting rare creatures. They hear of a legendary creature and offer to catch it for him, for a huge fee.

They hear of it from Dália a crab seller woman who has the swirl of Calypso on her forehead, a mark that she is part of the information network, the underworld. One pirate falls in love and is bewitched by her. He will learn more of Calypso, and the creature, and love and bewitchment.
