I Read Books: Band Of Gypsies

Band of Gypsies

The names of the Bold As Love novels all come from Hendrix recordings.

At the end of Midnight Lamp, the American neurobomb project went online, they achieved mind/matter information space interface, the team destroyed all fossil fuel reserves and then died leaving an enigmatic and explicitly religious note. This, though, is beyond the scope of our heroes, Ax, Sage and Fiorinda, as they are on a rock’n’roll protest in Paris, trying to force the Second Chamber Green government of England to stop bonded labour and open up (and improve conditions in) the work camps.

They get some concessions and return to England, and get their friends and family out from the secure locations they’re being held in (for their own safety). But they’re out-manuvered; various incidents combined with leaked footage of their violent raid in America has Ax accused of being a werewolf and locked up (again for his own safety*). Yet there are powers outside England and they’re worried that magic might rise again.

* Offered the chance to die in expiatory rites, sacrificing himself as king for his people, Ax makes a counter-offer; Socrates when negotiating for his sentence suggested that the City of Athens should pay for his meals to let him give lectures to help improve the citizens understanding. Unlike the Athenians, the English government accept this option.

Read This: You still want more Rock’n’Roll, more dark politics, more techno-utopianism, and Ax, Sage and Fiorinda have been at it long enough that a new post-Crisis or perhaps mid-Crisis generation is there with newer and weirder ideas
Don’t Read This: If you want an actual resolution as you don't get one; things snowball then transform in the set up to Rainbow Bridge
