I like the anime version of
Ghost in the Shell, (though I’ve never tracked down
the manga, the spin off TV series Stand Alone Complex, or the anime films spinning off SAC, or the other TV series spinning off SAC.) This isn’t as good. There are some spectacular visuals, some good fights, and a few dark themes. But not as dark as the anime, and the best visuals and fights are no better than in the anime. Inessential.
Watch This: For kinetic violence and some musing on the ethics of transhumanism
Don’t Watch This: If you have sated your desires for kinetic violence and transhumant ethics by watching Robocop or the anime.
