I Read Stories: Riverine by Danielle Jorgensen Murray

Riverine
by Danielle Jorgensen Murray in Reckoning

She married the river-man and he changes every time they meet, sometimes a fish, sometimes a duck. Her father had made a deal or followed a story or something.

The river-man is more river than man. What does he want with a wife? Why has her father made this arrangement? He tells her she can swim wherever she wants, except under the alders but he wonā€™t say why.

She doesnā€™t know what an alder looks like.
