There’s one legendary mage in Byker, David Bright. Or maybe two, or three, Terry Blake, who was Bright’s friend until they split. His ex-wife Anna Sullivan.

Newcastle is too small for a mage war, let alone Byker the story tells us. Many times mages go to London, where the rent is higher but the opportunities greater. But that’s no solution, not for Byker, not for the two mages who are feuding.
