I Read Books: Days Of Blood And Starlight
Days Of Blood And Starlight
At the end of Daughter Of Smoke And Bone Karou broke the wishbone and learned that she wasn’t actually a human girl, she was the resurrected version of Madrigal, a Chimaera. She’d fallen in love Akiva, a Seraph, who are trying to enslave the Chimaera.
Finding her way back to the otherworld she discovers the Chimaera city has been destroyed, and Thiago the White Wolf in the ruins. Hiding out near the gate in Saharan Morocco, she resurrects some of the survivors with wings to allow them to raid the Seraphs.
Meanwhile Akiva has begun sabotaging the slave and punitive raids the Seraphs are making. But that can’t end the war. Worse still the Emperor – his father, as he is one of the Misbegotten, the bastard soldiers – is planning still more war. He will need a more drastic solution.
On earth, after the dramatic confrontations in Prague and Marrakech, there are many sightings of angels, mostly spurious. Karou’s friends track her down, and this begins the process of tipping the balance, amongst the surviving Chimaera and among the Seraphs.
Read This: Magic is powered by pain, bad guys are slowly
revealed in all their awfulness and then the book strikes
Don’t Read This: If you wanted the angel-romance story from
the first, the bones of that are still there but it turns out they have more important
things in hand – two worlds to save before they can begin figuring out if they
can trust each other
This Is The Last Book I Read In 2022: So from here on out it's the books are from this year, though I still have films, TV shows and short stories from last year in the backlog.
