I Watch Films: The Legacy
The Legacy
Margaret Walsh, an American architect, is invited to England for a job. While she and her boyfriend Pete Danner are exploring the countryside on their motorbike they have an accident and are invited to stay at the slightly brooding country house of Jason Mountolive, Ravenhurst. Others arrive, by helicopter. They are all very successful in various fields, which it is revealed is due to Mountolive. Mountolive himself is dying.
One of the guest drowns, and later another chokes and it becomes clear that something supernatural is going on. Margaret and Pete attempt to leave, stealing Mountolive’s car but every turn leads them back through the same lanes and to the house. To be fair I’ve been on roads like that in rural England, but apparently this is magic.
They get picked off one by one in various more-or-less mysterious manners. Margaret learns some truths, how everyone there had to do something terrible to come by their fortune. In the end someone must inherit Mountolive’s legacy.
A tense horror-thriller with a very good cast, Charles Grey and Roger Daltrey in the same scene is quite an extraordinary choice. However it is perhaps most famous for the two leads, Sam Elliott and Katherine Ross, falling in love. They are still together!
Watch This: For an occult And Then There Were None style
thriller
Don’t Watch This: Bad people coming to bad ends does not
