Jingo

An island appears in the sea halfway between Ankh Morpork and the Empire of Klatch. There are clashes between fishermen over who owns it. Fortunately there are good relations between Ankh Morpork and Klatch; in fact a Klatchian prince is being given an honourary degree and is doing a bit of diplomacy on the side.

There’s an assassination attempt.

Sam Vimes and the city watch attempt to solve this crime, but it’s too late. Armies are massing and the worst of the aristocracy have taken control. Prejudice against the Klatchians in Ankh Morpork has shown its ugly head. And the Patrician seems powerless to stop it.
