On The Hills, The Knitters by Steve Toase in Bourbon Penn

For as long as they’ve lived there, a great knitted elephant was up on the hill, slowly rotting. Now, five years after the plague, knitter arrive with their sheep. They herd them through the village and up into the hills.

Everyone is suspicious. There’s friction, even violence. The knitters just get on. At last some of the villagers go up in the hills to see what is going on.
