I Read Stories: The Spook School by Nick Mamatas
The Spook School by Nick Mamatas in Nightmare
Melissa flies to Glasgow, her husband’s hometown and maybe it’s the long sleepless flight, or something else, but the sacred rose in the panel in the museum probably didn’t wink at her. Even if it did, it probably wasn’t that made her faint.
The spook school it’s called, the group of artists who made these works, and her husband is used to them. But they call to her and something terrible will happen when she sees them again.
A just barely creepy travelogue catching the strangeness and disconnectedness of a new city where they don’t quite speak the same language accelerates frantically into weird body horror towards the end.
