* The most unrealistic part of the story is that this is a well-known passive aggressive way of getting at people, and no one seems to care, though to be fair they very swiftly have other things to work about. It doesn’t quite fit in this footnote, but what the hell; there was a woman at an insurance company I worked at who would always sign off her emails XXXX. The X is a kiss right, and we weren’t on kissing terms, not even air-kisses. And as a Brit, I stop after 2 air-kisses, even in France, even in a four kiss zone
