Ralph Adams Cram was an American architect. He also wrote this volume of ghost stories set in Europe. Most of them are about Americans touring European cities and getting caught up in old mansions and palaces and having weird experiences. Write what you know I guess. High on history and spooky architecture, low on actual ghouls.
The final story The Dead Valley is a cool spooky piece, influential on the weird fiction of the early 20th century. There’s otherworldy energy and doubt as to what’s going on.
