I Watch Films: The Screaming Skull

The Screaming Skull

At the start of the film they promise that if you’re scared to death they will pay your funeral expenses, so that was one worry off my mind. Newlyweds arrive at a big country house with a big garden. It’s the husband’s second marriage; his first wife died after she fell, knocked herself out and drowned in a pond. The garden is maintained by the mentally disabled gardener who seems to take against the new wife because he liked the old one.

There’s a self portrait of the first wife, lots of creepy goings on and sounds and a skull that keeps appeared and disappearing (also screaming). The second wife had previous been in an asylum after her parents both drowned. Is it too much to note that this is both a mundane plot AND supernatural in nature?

Watch This: A melodramatic horror film that does best when it implies rather than when a spooky skull chases a woman in a nightie
Don’t Watch This: You don’t want to see a spooky skull chasing a woman in a nightie

For Some Reason:
The Wikipedia page on the film identifies the car as a Mercedes Benz SL 300, possibly because it has gull winged doors
