A Candle For The Devil

Two sisters own a guest house in a Spanish village. One of their guests sunbathes topless on their roof terrace to the enjoyment of the local lads. They remonstrate with her, and in the argument she falls down the stairs and dies. They cover it up, though the woman’s sister arrives looking for her later that day.

Another guest comes, and she stays out late, drinking with men, so they decide to kill her too. And another comes with a baby, and she indicates the father is missing.

The sisters, already on the track of defending morality, go further and further. One of them is having an affair with the odd-job man, the other spies on the local lads skinny dipping, then repenting, walks through thorns to scourge herself.

There’s an investigation plot in which the sister of the first victim tries to figure out what’s going on, leading to the finale.
