I Watch TV: SEAL Team
SEAL Team
Another season of SEAL Team and another season of them pondering the cost of war – not so much on the people they shoot or even the countries they go to fight in, but on the sailors themselves. Well I knew this already.
Jason, Bravo 1, tries to retire from operating and heads into the command centre, but it doesn’t work out and he’s back in the field. In the meantime though Ray’s promotion has come through and he’s sometimes in charge, sometimes second in command, sometimes going out and doing things on his own. He gets captured and tortured and his PTSD and denial of it causes problems with his family and later even outside the wire.
In fact everyone is moving on, or in Clay’s case not moving on as he took the fall for something that got him out of the officer training program. Sonny manages to become a father. The CIA agent finally stops doing what she’s been doing. Commander Blackburn moves on and they get a hard driving new officer. All change.
The war on terror doesn’t move on and they reflect a little
on this and the toll it takes. There's even a court martial.
But not much reflection, as there’s a bunch of people to shoot and things to blow up.
Watch This: A show about blowing things up and how that
effects the people doing the blowing up
Don't Watch This: A show about blowing things up uninterested in the people being blown up
