I Read Stories: The Key Witness by Grant Tracey

The Key Witness
by Grant Tracey in Tough

Sadler’s taking a witness to a trial, a particularly grotesque one involving occult murder concealed by a church. They get cut off by a snowstorm and have to spend the night in… a church.

Things go downhill.

Read This: A story about occult murder and betrayal
Don’t Read This: If a plot that treats the most lurid satanic panic reports as actual crimes seems a bit off

I’m starting to get the vibe of Tough, it’s about gritty noir, often working class people, very American (even the ones that, like this one, aren’t set in America), violence as sordid and also sometimes the least worst solution, and sometimes just the only way to break a deadlock. If you like this then keep reading, if you don’t then no I guess.
