I Read Books: Neuromancer
Neuromancer
I first read this as a teenager and also re-read it and re-re-read it and...
Anyway it’s been a while, and worse still I already teased out several of my better ideas about the book in this post. So is there anything more to say?
Well as a crime novel it’s pretty good, almost classic noir. They’re hired to steal something that belongs to the client, so it’s a heist, everyone has a murky past that casts a shadow on what they’re doing. Everyone who is rich is weird and icky.
The violence can be genuinely disconcerting. And so can other scenes.
Read This: The classic, ur-cyberpunk novel, which also works as a crime novel
Don’t Read This: It has all the sex and violence and shady motives of noir
