I Watch Films: Hotel Artemis

Hotel Artemis

In near-future dystopian LA, wracked by water riots, a bank robbery goes wrong leading to two brothers going to Hotel Artemis, a clinic for criminals. Other people are there; an assassin in an evening dress and an arms-dealer who is very annoying are clients, there’s the nurse and also an orderly.

As the evening goes 3-D printers, initially used to make new organs, are instead used to make guns. The king of LA crime has been hurt and is coming in, his son and heir are making demands that the nurse isn’t willing to grant. There’s also an injured cop who knew the nurse back before she got struck off, when her son was still alive.

There are in fact a lot of cool and interesting bits and pieces, that somehow never quite gel together. Everything goes wrong, of course, but half our storylines aren’t really related to that, nor are they concluded by it.

Watch This: For a dark, claustrophobic thriller
Don’t Watch This: For something with clever, air-tight plotting
