I Watch Films: Death Race: Beyond Anarchy

Death Race: Beyond Anarchy

In this sequel to Death Race* an entire abandoned industrial city has been turned into an out of doors unregulated prison called The Sprawl. This goes exactly as you might expect – it’s all about heavy metal and black leather and topless women and post-apocalyptic themed gangs cosplaying in various ways.

Frankenstein, the masked racer, is king of The Sprawl. He maintains that by being the winning racer in the regular Death Race. They illegally broadcast it which the prison company want to shut down, but their last attempt turned into an ambush and their SWAT team was massacred by a man with a chainsaw wearing boots, gloves, and an apron and that’s all.

So the new batch of prisoners contains some special surprises to disrupt the race. They get through earlier rounds and make friends and enemies and occasionally people make some kind of speech about the state of the world. Frankenstein asks what the racers want, what they will do if they’re king, how will they keep The Sprawl Beyond Anarchy. Finally there’s a big race.

Watch This: For some sort of fighting racing, heavy metal boob nonsense.
Don’t Watch This: If you want anything other than fighting racing heavy metal boob nonsense

* Death Race 2 and 3 are prequels; the series is a reboot of Death Race 2000 (and Death Race 2050) though the director of Death Race said that film could be considered a prequel to Death Race 2000. If so then the internal chronology goes:

Death Race 2
Death Race 3
Death Race
Death Race: Beyond Anarchy
Death Race 2000
Death Race 2050
