Shrek The Halls

Shrek the ogre is reminded by his friend Donkey that Christmas is coming; then it does come and he realises he knows nothing about Christmas as he’s never celebrated it alone in the swamp. Now he has his wife Princess Fiona and three children he decides to try and have a proper Christmas, getting a Christmas For Village Idiots book, presents, decorations, a tree etc. He thinks he can have a nice quiet Christmas; inevitably Donkey and all the other supporting Shrek characters turn up. Shrek can’t get them to leave with his hints; when he tries to tell the Christmas story in the book (a version of ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas) everyone interrupts telling their own weird versions with fun animation.

Shrek loses his temper and throws everyone out, which annoys Princess Fiona, who goes after them to apologise. Shrek catches up explains about how he wanted to make this Christmas perfect for her and the children, because he’s never had a Christmas. Everyone feels remorse, they go back and have Shrek tell the story, then Christmas happens.

All our favourite Shrek characters get together and learn the true meaning of Christmas! The best thing about this is it’s fast-paced, due to being a short film, with each character doing their thing, then moving on without outstaying their welcome. The not so good thing is it is exactly what you’d expect with grumpy Shrek trying to do Christmas, and then learning the true meaning.

Watch This: Fun, fast-paced Kid’s cartoon
Don’t Watch This: Adds nothing to either Shrek nor the Christmas special genre
