I Watch Films: Little Devils
Little Devils
A scientist is using some clay from a graveyard to make small devil statues. These come to life. They all have their own weird improvised weapons.
The guy living on the floor below is trying to write a novel, and to make ends meet writes erotica for magazines. About half of the people who meet him – including his landlady – have read and appreciate them, while he’s not really into the things he writes about. The muscle for a loan shark the scientist has borrowed from, who the writer helps is one of the fans.
He meets his friend Doc, a doctor, and volunteers to help at a homeless encampment, whose descriptions of the devils are dismissed at hallucinations. He also meets Lynn, an exotic dancer. The film follows some predictable grooves, with the devils rappelling down walls and killing people in unlikely ways. The scientist has left behind some videos on his computer, which gives the only things that will break down the clay – Kiddo Cola.
The actual Devils are pretty good, which is nice as it covers the predictability once the film stops following weird side-plots and becomes a small-monsters-kill-people flick.
Watch This: Some cool models and gruesome deaths with a few
slightly askew characters
Don’t Watch This: It’s trying to be Gremlins, but without
the charm
The Film Appears To Be Available To Watch For Free Online: Though I have not been able to verify the rights situation
