I Watch Films: House Of The Gorgon

House Of The Gorgon

A woman travels to Karlstadt to marry the doctor, with her mother and best friend. But it’s a bit weird there, and at the last wedding in town things went terribly wrong.

This is an homage to old Hammer period films, with some stars from that time making an appearance. Sadly the sets don’t have the budget. The best ones are where they are stylised, impressionistic, with sheets hanging from the wall, rather than a failed attempt to make a 19th century castle. The use of lights and the commitment of the actors goes a long way in giving it charm.

Watch This: For an interesting low budget experiment with some twists around the idea of the gorgons
Don’t Watch This: Caught between period and minimalist impressionism, the sets are distractingly unimmersive
