Tormented
Tom, a jazz pianist, is on a holiday island, preparing to marry Meg. Vi, a former lover comes to see him; they argue on top of the abandoned lighthouse, she slips off the top and he fails to rescue her. Unfortunately she then goes on to haunt him.
Tom’s increasingly strange behaviour (or rather his perfectly explicable behaviour for someone haunted by their ex-) worries everyone from Meg’s precocious sister, through the blind housekeeper, to Meg’s parents (already dubious about a jazzman marrying into their rich family). Worse still the beatnik boatman who carried Vi to the island comes looking for the $5 she promised for passage; after being paid he learns that Tom is marrying someone else and returns to blackmail him.
Things spiral out of control as Tom finds himself getting deeper and darker.
Watch This: For a cool beach-marriage-and-lighthouse themed
ghost story
Don’t Watch This: Some of the effects are rubbish and the
film shifts wildly in tone sometimes within scenes
