I Read Books: Stolen
Stolen
Armstrong’s sequel to Bitten. Elena, the world’s only female werewolf, is contacted by a bunch of other weirdos with magic powers; witches, half-demons, vampires, shamans etc. Someone is kidnapping the magic people!
It turns out to be a tech billionaire who is something of a perv, with a fetish for hunting, and also wants to investigate magic to make money, or maybe to change the world. He’s got a sorcerer on staff, and a half-demon, and some mercenaries and scientists, all with a bit of an ethics and common-sense deficiency.
Elena is captured (“Stolen”) by them and taken to the secret lair, where there are yet more magical weirdos. She needs to figure out how to escape, how to control her powers, and maybe even finally figure out her lovelife with Clay, though as she’s in a jailcell and he’s outside somewhere, this may not be as easy as it seems.
A rapid expansion of the universe, and several scenes of werewolf sex; I admire this book perhaps a little more than I enjoyed it, Armstrong setting up plenty of possible future settings and plotlines which also work perfectly well in the moment.
Read This: For a bit of fantasy romance married to a hard-edged werewolf thriller
Don’t Read This: If graphic scenes of werewolf sex and/or killing don’t do it for you
