I Read Stories: Honey and Lime Issue 2
Honey and Lime Issue 2
I read Honey and Lime, a literary magazine, and here are some of the highlights:
Before They Sell It She Comes Back by Roppotucha Greenberg.
A flash fiction story about wolves and death and winter, and living in a house that someone you cared for died in. Spooky, but also poignant and bitter-sweet (the signature flavour for Honey and Lime, so that shall be the only mention).
Things We've Found In Our Hair by Cathy Ulrich.
Another flash fiction, about the things in the title, but more about being a teenage girl and being concerned about boys, and snakes, and boys with guitars and the future and future relationships. The snakes don’t have guitars, and do live in the belly, not the hair.
How Do You Tell Someone You've Written A Poem About Them by Natalie Lim.
This is a poem about line breaks and break ups. About love and loss and meaning. About how no one knows a poem is about them, but all poems are about you. Hence the title question.
i guess if it needs a name i'll call it by Linette Reeman.
A sharp-edged, cutting poem about rape whose imagery sticks with me.
(Issue 2 is here. Thanks to my reviewing backlog, Issue 3 has already come out.)
