I Read Stories: All That Was Left by Sandra Arnold
All That Was Left by Sandra Arnold
A 12 year old boy’s family starts to fall apart after their baby sister dies. But this rapidly goes very strange as fabulist elements make an arrival, a weird shrine and a bizarre ending when the boy’s response to bad news from the Headmaster pushes the story to a very strange place.
It’s extremely good.
Read This: For a piece of flash fiction that engages with grief from the periphery
Don’t Read This: If wild pendulum swings from very real tragedy to extraordinarily odd events are not for you
