Po, giant panda, kung fu master and Dragon Warrior is told by Master Shifu that it is time to become spiritual leader of the Valley Of Peace and find a successor as Dragon Warrior. Po doesn’t want that, he’s happy as he is, with his two fathers opening a new restaurant. Then Zhen, a fox, tries to steal some of the kung fu artefacts from the Jade palace; Po defeats her and puts her in prison.

Tai Lung, the bad guy from Kung Fu Panda appears to have escaped the Spirit Realm. Zhen reveals that it probably isn’t him, but instead the sorceress Chameleon, who can take the shape and kung fu of other people. Po lets Zhen out to guide him to Juniper City to find Chameleon; worried his fathers follow.

In Juniper City Chameleon has taken over the underworld and demands tribute. She’s also taken over the overworld as well and they try to arrest Po and Zhen. They escape, and are able to confront Chameleon. Po hands his Staff Of Wisdom (see Kung Fu Panda 3) to Zhen, only to be betrayed by her; the Staff can only be given away voluntarily. With the staff Chameleon brings back the greatest kung fu masters from the Spirit Realm, including Tai Lung (Kung Fu Panda), Lord Shen (Kung Fu Panda 2) and General Kai (Kung Fu Panda 3) and steals their kung fu.

Zhen regrets her betrayal, teams up with Po, his fathers and the underworld to return for a complex final battle. Though there are a few tricks and turns along the way this goes approximately as you might expect; this is an animated cartoon animal film for kids after all.
