An apothecary in post-Roman Britain meets a swordsman on the road. They see dragon sign. The apothecary is learned, for these fallen times. So when they get to the town and learn what they’ve been doing, sacrificing to the dragon to keep it away, they know how this will end. Badly.
But the swordsman has it in his head to be a hero. Though no living man has slain a dragon with a sword. And the girl to be sacrificed is in a panic. It could all go wrong. It could all go very wrong.
But the apothecary has a cure.
