I Watch Films: Shatter
Shatter
Shatter is a hitman who kills the dictator of an African country. Arriving in Hong Kong to get paid, he finds himself under attack, the banker refusing to pay, the local security services (commanded by Rattwood (Peter Cushing) – the film’s approach to names is as subtle as the plotting) telling him to get out of town. Shatter does not get out of town instead meeting up with a masseuse and the barman of the massage parlor, who runs a kung fu school.
There are explosions, car chases, gun fights that turn into kung fu fights, an international kung fu tournament, betrayals and even a twist. It’s in no way a great 70s Hong Kong Kung Fu movie but it does the job.
Watch This: A competent, pacy, occasionally exciting kung fu
thriller
Don’t Watch This: It has all the kung fu nonsense you
expect, good and bad
