I Watch Films: Prince Of Darkness
Prince Of Darkness
A group of physics students are recruited by their professor (Victor Wong). A priest (Donald Pleasance) has been sent by the Vatican to investigate a church after the priest in charge died. It turns out that this was the brotherhood of sleep, a secret sect within the Catholic Church that communicated by dreams and kept a secret artefact discovered in Spanish North America in the 16th century. It contains Satan, who is a servant of the Anti-God, who exists as pure evil in an antimatter mirror universe.
They translate some of the brotherhood’s books, discovering differential equations, and analyse the artefact, a cylinder filled with green liquid. They all start to have dreams, which they eventually decipher as being sent from the future via tachyons, in an attempt to warn them. It shows a mysterious figure exiting the church and the number one nine nine nine.
They speculate that Jesus Christ might have been a space traveller who came to Earth to stop the artefact.
This ends up with some of them being taken over, and becoming zombies that propagate by squirting liquid from mouth to mouth, and also being laid siege to by homeless people who are taken over by insects. A film packed with ideas that it fails to deliver on.
Watch This: Half a science fiction film of ideas with a
zombie siege at the end
Don’t Watch This: No to zombies, no to time-and-space
travelling evil
