Tashi Choden is a Buddhist monk on a generation starship. It has been three years since the Panchen Lama died. He came with them so that the travellers would not be without guidance. Now he will have been reincarnated and so the monks begin a search.

The search takes in all the ship, not just the majority Buddhist berths, and Tashi Choden is assigned to search non-Buddhist berths. This will no be easy, but may be valuable.
