I Read Books: Lords And Ladies

Lords And Ladies

The witches return from Witches Abroad and things have gone a bit off kilter in the meantime. Some younger girls have taken up witching, especially up at a stone circle they really shouldn’t have gone to, let alone danced at. Magrat finds herself marrying the king, which she isn’t averse to but isn’t really what she expected. And her becoming queen causes her and Granny Weatherwax to fall out. Witch's tendency to secrecy means they’re all keeping things from each other.

Granny Weatherwax isn’t in her right mind. She might even be dying. But before that happens she’s got one last job, and it’s to stop the Lords And Ladies returning. You know. The Gentry. The Fair Folk. Elves.

A lot of old stories come out of the woodwork, a few nods at Shakespeare again, this time with A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and a few supporting characters from other books come in as guests for the wedding. Also a few bits about Elves and Iron, Smiths and Smithing and even unicorns.

Unicorns as terrifying monsters seems to be in vogue I guess.

Read This: Fun fantasy about elves trying to drag people back to the dark age
Don’t Read This: It’s a lot of nonsense about witches and stuff
