After the war (unspecified) our female narrator becomes caretaker of Wildfell Hall. There are three rules: No smoking in bed, no disturbing the proprietor’s guests if any are present, and you must never go into the North Tower. She breaks two of them, and finds herself on the edge of some forgotten and mysterious stories.

But eventually we must put away our juvenilia and join adult life.
