I Read Books: Secrets of the Fire Sea
This 4th novel in the Jackalian sequence takes us away from the kingdom of Jackals to Jagos in the Fire Sea. Although closely linked to Jackals (being the origin of the Circlist faith, the atheist religion of the Kingdom) is has many differences. It’s the only place where the power electric can be used (nearly) safely, as the hot magma currents of the fire sea do... something?
Anyway, there’s a murder mystery, ancient history and super-science, downloaded personalities, people trying to rise to godhood and an invasion of bear people. Just your usual bit of weird flintlock fantasy.
