Duck Tales: The Movie: The Treasure Of The Lost Lamp
Scrooge McDuck and his team, including his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, and his not-niece Webby, is on the trail of the legendary treasure of Collie Baba. Opening the chest initially is a disappointment, finding only his old clothes. However there is a treasure map in one of the robes so they set off, with their local guide Dijon.
Under a pyramid they find the treasure which includes a lamp, which Scrooge thinks is worthless so gives to Webby. They are betrayed by Dijon who works for the evil wizard Merlock who is looking for something in the treasure (it’s the lamp). The pair steal the treasure (but not the lamp) but in the chaos Scrooge’s party escapes.
Back home the younger ducks rub the lamp and a genie comes out. He’s so happy at this he gives them all three wishes in return for being allowed to stay with them; he disguises himself as a duck scout called Gene. After a variety of chaotic wishes, Gene sees a bird and is frightened. He explains some of the back story, how Merlock wished for immortality, also destroyed Atlantis and Pompeii, has a magical talisman that lets him transform. Collie Baba later stole the lamp and Gene fears that Merlock will return to recapture him. They suggest using a wish to get the talisman, but he can’t do that. Webby uses her last wish to bring toys to life which reveals Gene’s magical nature to Scrooge. Scrooge wishes for Collie Baba’s treasure, then takes the lamp and Gene to the Archaeological Society to try and impress them.
Merlock and Dijon track them down but in the confusion it’s Dijon who ends up with the lamp and Gene. He wishes to have all of Scrooge’s property taking control of his Money Bin. Scrooge and the young ducks confront him at the same time as Merlock arrives for an even more chaotic conclusion. This is moderately fun cartoon adventure, some of the traps and transformations good. On the other hand I don’t care about Duck Tales and am frankly indifferent to Scrooge McDuck and not especially interested in the rivalries and wishes of the young ducks.
