I Read Stories: A Very Good Dog by William Adcock

A Very Good Dog by William Adcock in Swords And Sorcery Magazine

Tarskia is travelling through the mountains, an arrow in her shoulder. Looking for shelter from the storm and the bandits, she hears the bell from a shrine. It’s the wind ringing it, the shrine has been attacked and looted, the only inhabitant a dog, both wary and friendly all at once. The statue within is of a man with a dog and the shrinekeeper and a dog are dead.

Tarskia knows the only way out is through the bandits. She will have to confront them. But now maybe she won’t have to do it alone. A story of survival and revenge, and of course, of dogs.
