Podcasts of the Year
Twelve months ago I posted this piece for my patrons on the top five (sadly fictional) podcasts. Now you can read this frankly ridiculous piece for free.
Any similarities to real podcasts or people is coincidental.

Podcasts of the Year
5. Spoons
If a podcast dedicated to the history, design, and use of spoons sounds unexciting then I can only agree with you. The soothing voices of the hosts Johan Salamander and Gemma Underman can make you think that it will have the effect of putting the listener to sleep. In fact that is precisely why I listen to it last thing in the evening. I may never get to the end of their discussion about Byzantine Dormouse ladles or Spring and Autumn snail scoops, but I do get a good night’s kip.
4. The Dead Outnumber The Living
Brian and Dumbo investigate reports of undead “vivimancers” – dead people who contact the living to ask them things. The episode in which Malketh the Undying asked what happened on Eastenders, and who inherited their good spoons is unmissable.
3. Nicked
A true crime podcast run by true criminals. On hiatus while their Patreon is investigated for money laundering.
2. Podcastia
A round-up show about podcasts. Don’t have enough time to keep up with podcasts? Kids keep screaming over the dulcet tones of your favourite spoken word recordings? Well Spanner, Michelle and Don are here to help you out. They’ll tell you all about what happened on that sport’s show you never get to hear, the legal commentary you care most about, even warn you how to avoid spoilers about other podcasts in podcasts with their “Which should I listen to first,” section.
1. Neck This Fine Nectar
A show about booze. Every episode begins with a number of the rotating cast of hosts each presenting an unusual or interesting bottle of alcoholic drink. Each ends with them very drunk. Podcasting at its finest.
