On Monday 1 October the next episode of my space opera serial Chronicles of the Deep Patrol will be posted. What happens in it?

Lieutenant Commander Tommy “Ray” Gunn and his crew lost their ship when they were arrested by the Solar Government. They were able to acquire a replacement when they exited their confinement. Back on a routine flight, the new ship breaks down, leaving them stranded on the technologically backwards world of Vanaheim.

Waiting for rescue, they discover the Vanaheimers have problems of their own. Something is up in the mountains, raiding mines, stealing the sheep and goats. Gunn and his team decide to help out in a story called...
