I Watch Films: Tarzan And The Green Goddess
Tarzan And The Green Goddess
This has some association with the serial The New Adventures Of Tarzan. As it opens Tarzan and others have gone to Guatemala to retrieve a totem of the Green Goddess; it contains the formula for a very destructive explosive. It’s stolen by Raglan, who is working for Another Power. Also after them are the native tribe, unhappy at having their idol stolen.
Perhaps most interesting is that this Guatemala has stock footage of African animals – giraffes and rhinos. Tarzan here is the educated and articulate version from the novels (after he learns to speak towards the end of the first book). He looks the part, his yell has not yet been codified. The story itself is typical serial fare, bad guys captures someone or something, they go to rescue them etc. Eventually Tarzan and co are on a ship about to sink, and then they’re back home at a garden party for the epilogue. I think sadly this is for completists only.
Watch This: Tarzan fights, swims, runs, escapes, climbs,
swings etc
Don’t Watch This: Incoherent when it isn’t very silly
