Eiliv the herald is escorted by Iona to see if the mountain pass is clear. It is the realm of a wyvern, and if so no army can march through. Yet it reeks of death, so much so that hunting for supplies is hard.

Even if the wyvern is dead there are still dangers on the mountain – and worse still, the soldiers waiting for them are little better than bandits. Both Eiliv and Iona will need all their skills to survive – and find a new appreciation between each other.
