Spin The Bottle (2024)

In the 1970s a group of teens gather in the house of one girl whose parents (and preacher grandfather) are out. They go down into the cellar and find some of the weird things he’s gathered. They decide to play spin the bottle with an old bottle. A mysterious black gas comes out; there’s then a massacre.

Later, in the present, Cole Randall arrives to take over the house; he hides that he’s a member of the family who lived there previously. He’s trying to get it ready for his mother, who’s in an institution of some sort. He goes to the high school and meets a variety of wacky characters, who thanks to making friends with Kasey Stanton, he starts to hang out with. They, again, go down to the cellar. After spinning the bottle and making out etc. one of the girls decides to leave, calling an uber, but she’s murdered.

There’s a couple of twists along the way – the two guys in the friend group are curiously opaque; the lead quarterback doesn’t have the handsome good looks and classic physique; the people of the town love to blame the wrong people, but this is almost irrelevant to the main plot. It’s the dark secrets of the Randall family, as we know from the prologue!
