Are You Telling Me A Sausage Fried This Rice?

Special Sausage Fried Rice

Some cooked rice
Some cooked sausages, cut into pieces
An egg
Oil
Soy sauce
Spring onions, cut into pieces
A little 5-spice powder
A handful of frozen peas

Heat some oil in a wok or large frying pan. Break the egg into a bowl and whisk up. Pour the egg into the wok and let cook as though an omelette for 30 seconds or so. Then break it up, adding the spring onions, 5-spice and then the rice, stirring so the egg pieces move through the rice. Put in the frozen peas.

Keep stirring and frying. After a few moments add in the bits of sausage and a splash of soy sauce to taste. When the sausage and rice are warmed up it will be ready to eat.

This is, of course, reliant on leftovers and things in the fridge, quick and easy if you have them to hand. Also slightly greasy, warm and filling. If you want it a bit spicier then a little ginger or chilli (or chilli sauce) can be used, added with the spring onions if raw, with the soy sauce for sauce.

Other cooked protein can substitute for sausage. The special is the egg, which is the only tricky bit. As the rice absorbs the oil be deliberate in how much you use.
