Police Academy 6: City Under Siege
The Wilson Heights gang (Ace, a gunman, Flash, an martial artist, and Ox, a strong man) are raiding businesses in Wilson Heights under the leadership of a mysterious mastermind. He appears behind a screen and there’s some fun jokes where they mess about with that.
Captain Harris and Lieutenant Proctor mess up their attempts to catch them, so the commissioner sends in a special team from the Police Academy, with the returning cast members, including Commandant Lassard’s nephew who has relocated from Miami for some reason.
The gang play pranks on Harris who doesn’t want them, find clues and try to set traps but are outplayed every time. It’s almost as though someone has inside information. Then they figure out that all the businesses targeted are on the old Number 51 bus line (one of them used to ride it). The mastermind isn’t taking a cut of proceeds, it’s a property scam!
Frankly this one is quite tired, moves slowly, the jokes taking a while to arrive and linger after they’ve done their thing. Already poor for what began as a crude high energy comedy series of films, this becomes a problem as what ought to be a zany and out of nowhere finale becomes obvious if given time to think about. We shouldn’t be given time to think, the gags and stunts should be thick and fast!
Watch This: For some reason you’re on a mission to watch all
seven of the film series
Don’t Watch This: Poorly paced, the plot extended by
unamusing tomfoolery
