I Watch Films: Silent Rage
Silent Rage
A mentally ill man goes berserk and attacks people in the home he lodges in. He’s arrested by Sheriff Dan (Chuck Norris) but then breaks out of his handcuffs and is shot. He’s taken to “The Institute,” where he had been getting treatment.
Dying in surgery, one of the doctor’s suggests using his experimental treatments. He’s taken down into the secret bit of “The Institute” where he’s brought back to life, though they declare him dead.
The film then gets a bit distracted. Dan and his comedy sidekick deputy discover a bar has been taken over by a biker gang and Dan beats up about twenty five of them. It turns out that Dan is romancing Allison, the sister of John’s psychiatrist. They intend to go on a camping trip to try and forget these terrible events.
The film discovers the plot again as John, mute but indestructible, escapes “The Institute” and goes to the psychiatrist’s house and kills him and his wife. Allison arrives to pick up her camping gear and interrupts him.
They go to “The Institute” to try and figure out what’s going on and after gathering all the characters into one place the story turns to the bloody and violent final showdown. A silly, unfocussed, not especially novel film, with a few good action setpieces.
Watch This: Chuck Norris beats up twenty five bikers for no
reason, then fights someone completely unstoppable
Don’t Watch This: It’s poorly paced, oddly shot, the
performances lack conviction and the depictions of science and mental health
are laughable
